Recharge!
Truth: we are not Energizer bunnies. We may think we are; we may push ourselves to go! go! go! all the time. Gotta get here, gotta get there, gotta do this, gotta do that. But that a) is not what life is about and b) is completely draining. I must admit that I'm terrible for this; I push and push to suck out all the industry I have and more. I find myself tiptoeing very precariously across a thin tightrope; it's such a delicate balance that if one teeny thing were to tip the scales, my whole life could fold like a deck of cards. This is why balance is crucial; balance between work and play, balance in terms of time and energy. But this is also why it is key that we learn to recharge our batteries. What does this have to do with making the world a better place, you ask? What does this seemingly self-serving lesson have to do with helping other people? The truth is; if we stop and breathe for a while, take a break from the tightrope and stretch our metaphorical muscles, we can walk out there with much more power and confidence. We can handle what life has to throw at us, take it in stride rather than allowing it to turn our delicate balance to shambles. Do you ever find that your mood can't find a home when you're under pressure? It keeps switching this way and that, snapping at little old ladies for crossing the street? Okay, so perhaps not exactly like that; but rather than snapping at someone walking by, why not try snapping out of the routine for a day or two?
